JackSpecific.com | A Birth of Greyhounds

Among one of the most exciting things that come about in my experiences with our wonderful Greyhound adoption organization is the arrival of a new batch of Greyhounds from the tracks.

Being a father of two children and a father of quite a few pets, I can attest to the arrival of the new Greyhounds almost as a 'birth' of sorts. You anticipate the moment as it gets nearer then finally the call comes in "We will be there in five minutes". The anticipation and excitement grows as we see the hauler approach. As the hauler parks everyone gets ready to pick up their assigned greyhound. One by one the names of each Greyhound is called out as they are brought out of their compartment.

Each and every time one comes out you hear the "ooh's' and ahh's" from everyone around. It is so comparative to a birth and in a way it is a birth. It's the start of a brand new life for them full of things they have never even seen before. In this new life they will be truly loved as a part of someone's family.

So happy birthday to the PGC Greyhounds of the May 28th 2005 haul!
